Death of ICA founder member

It was with deep shock and sadness that members of Muff ICA learned of the sudden death of one of their founder members Eileen McGowan, Redcastle.Eileen retired from the ICA a numbers of years ago but when active in the association she was a very enthusiastic member always taking part in any social occasion with gusto, she was a talented painter some of her pictures were on display at various ICA shows, also a talented musican she entertained members on many occasions, with her hugh personality and great sense of humour Eileen was always indemand, she was also a frequent visitor to the ICA College in Termonfeckin, Co. Lough, where sheentertained members from the various visiting Guilds from all over the country. Eileen will be sadly missed. May she rest in peace.

The annual Harvest Thanksgiving Services will be held in Knowhead Presbyterian Church this Sunday 19th October at 10.30am and 7.30pm. There will be an augmented choir at the evening service, after which supper will be served in the

Memorial Hall. A warm welcome is extended to everyone

A family from Whitehill, Muff, were shocked at the weekend to discover that while they slept their car, parked outside their house was burnt out. Apparently the perpetrators stole a bundle of newspapers from outside a local shop, then broke the window

of the car and threw the lit papers into the back seat. This was a disgraceful act of vandalism, if you have any information regarding this crime. Contact the local Gardai on 0749384002.

Filming of the Movie “The Muffia’ will commence tomorrow in Muff. It is not anticipated that there should be any disruption to traffic or pedestrians, but the cast and crew have asked for co-operation and patience from all passers-by and onlookers.

The Parish draw begins another year tomorrow - thanks to all who organise, promote and support the draw. The profit made last year was €32,608 which especially in current financial circumstances is a magnificent achievement by all concerned. The weekly prizes for this year’s draw will remain as last year, with 2 prizes of €500 each on weeks 10,20,30,40,50.

Congratulations to Muff Branch of the Irish Red Cross whose Cadet Team came first in the First Aid and Youth Challenge All-Ireland competition in Galway.

There will be a Ceili and Old Tyme dance in GAA centre, Ture this Sunday 19th from 9-11.30pm. Admission including supper 5 euro.

Muff Apostolic Association is holding its annual Christmas Bazaar on Sunday, 7th December. This early notice is to let other organisations know so any Christmas events they are running will not clash with it.

The monthly meeting of the ICA will be held in St.Mary’s Community Hall next Tuesday 21st October at 8pm. New members welcome.
