Encóre Contemporary Choir has celebrated its third birthday by giving a cheque for £1400 to its adopted charity, Action on Hearing Loss.
Musical Director, Emmet Doherty, handed over the cheque to Marie Dunne, a representative of Action on Hearing Loss, who also happens to be a member of the choir!
Speaking at the cheque handover, Emmet said: “We were delighted to adopt Action on Hearing Loss as our preferred charity for 2012/13.
“This is a cause that is close to the hearts of some choir members who have family or friends with hearing loss.
The money was raised from fund-raising events held during the year, including a unique ‘Strictly Come Jiggin’ event, and from part of the proceeds of the choir’s very successful concert ,‘Decades’, held in the Millennium Forum in September.
Jackie White, Northern Ireland Director of Action on Hearing Loss, thanked Emmet and Encóre and said, “This fantastic donation from Encóre Contemporary Choir will enable us to continue to provide vital support services to people with hearing loss, deafness and tinnitus in the North West.”
