The highlight of the weekend will be the international competition, to be held on Saturday, October 22, in St. Columb’s Hall.

Six choirs from six countries - Indonesia, Poland, Britain, Germany, Ireland and Hungary - will compete for the prestigious “Oak Tree of Derry” trophy and substantial cash prizes.

Dónal Doherty, Artistic Director of the Festival, speaking at this week’s official launch, said: “The festival is already becoming a significant event in the international choral calendar and this year’s outstanding choirs and adjudicators will raise its profile to an even higher level.

“We are delighted to announce an exciting and entertaining programme and I really believe there is something there for everyone to enjoy, whether you buy a ticket for one of the headline acts or just discover our visiting choirs on the Choral Trail across the city. It promises to be an inspirational five days of singing and a week not to be missed.”
