The Mayor of Derry, councillor Martin Reilly has encouraged local people to familiarise themselves with the opening arrangements of Derry City Council facilities over the Christmas period.
The city’s First Citizen said the Council’s website has all of the information local people require about the opening times of all Council facilities and bin collections for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Colr. Reilly said the website was a great way to view the festive arrangements for all Council related services in one place.
“We want to ensure that the public have all of the information on hand relating to refuse collection, recycling centres, leisure centres, Heritage and Museum facilities, dog kennels and cemeteries and to check before you visit any of these amenities to ensure they are open,” he said.
The Council headquarters on Strand Road will be closed from Christmas Eve, Tuesday December 24 and will open again for usual business on Monday December 30.
In relation to Council’s refuse collection service, information stickers have been attached to all household bins outlining the precise arrangements regarding Christmas and New Year Refuse Collections.
The Mayor also extended Christmas greetings to everyone in the Derry City Council area.
“I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our citizens a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year,” he said. Full details of the opening arrangements for all Derry City Council facilities during the holiday period are now available to view at the Council website at www.derrycity.gov.uk/openinghours.
