This year’s annual Derry Diocesan Pioneer Mass will be celebrated in St Mary’s Church, Draperstown, this Sunday at 3pm.
The chief celebrant at the Mass will be the Bishop of Derry, Most Rev. Dr Seamus Hegarty.
A large attendance of Pioneers and their friends are expected to attend the Mass from each of the four deaneries in the Derry Diocese and will pray for an increase in temperance, and not solely in relation to alcohol.
A spokesperson for the group said that at the Mass, prayers will be offered for everyone who suffers from any form of addiction, for deceased members of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association, and for those present.
Following the Mass, refreshments will be served in the nearby St Mary’s Hall.
