The beginning of a new community partnership will be forged tonight when Bogside and Brandywell Health Forum (BBHF) staff will attend the match with Galway and engage with Derry City fans.

Information about all of BBHF’s programmes will be given out before the game at all of the entrances including: exercise classes, mental health programmes, healthy eating, men’s programmes, alcohol reduction, health checks, and all aspects of improving health and well being. Healthy food such as chicken wraps, tuna wraps, fruit and water will also be given out at half time.

Liam Hegarty, current Co-chair of BBHF commented: “I am delighted that we are partnering with Derry City Football Club, our near neighbours.

“As a lifelong Derry City fan tonight’s match signals in a very public way a real partnership between BBHF and Derry City Football Club. This partnership between two of the biggest employers in the Brandywell area is centred on the importance of locally based health and wellbeing initiatives.”

Peter Hutton, Manager, Derry City FC, said: “Derry City FC is very supportive of the work of BBHF. Both organisations understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle and are keen to use this partnership to improve the health and wellbeing of Derry people.

“We have teams from under 11 right through to the senior team.

“All the players are taught about the importance of Health lifestyles, including diet, nutrition and exercise.”
