Parts of Derry are flooded after heavy downpours during the day.

The stretch of Foyle Road between Craigavon Bridge and John Street roundabout is closed, and motorists are advised to use the top deck of Craigavon Bridge.

The Met Office has upgraded its alert warning from yellow to amber as rain lashes many parts of the north of Ireland.

Reports of flooding are coming from readers across Derry, including the Foyle Road and Tullyally Road areas.

A number of readers have posted great pictures on the Derry Journal’s facebook site.
