Derry getting ready to strut its stuff during Fashion Fest ’15

Derry will take on the runways of Paris and Milan next week when the city launches its three-day Fashion Fest ’15.

A wide range of events are planned for the festival, which runs from Thursday November 12 to Saturday 14.

It will follow on from the resuccess of last year’s inaugural festival, and the local council have broadened out this year’s programme .

Key events include a Gala Fashion Show, pre-season Designer Showcase and Junk Kouture Catwalks.

There will also be a Schools Programme, Creative Retailer Workshops, and a range of promotional events.

One of the highlights will be an ultra glamorous Gala Fashion Show next Saturday in St Columb’s Hall from 7pm.

Gala Show tickets are priced at £20 or there is a VIP Gala Fashion Show Package , with tickets priced at £28.50 to include entry, reserved front row seat, premier goodie bags and admission to an aftershow party with complimentary champagne.

Prior to this, there will be also be a Designer Trade Exhibition on Thursday from 1.30pm to 5pm, also at St Columb’s Hall.

Theisexclusive fashion and accessories pre-season buying opportunity is offered in association with Eddie Shanahan, chair of the Council for Fashion Designers.

Eddie Shanahan has a long history of success working with iconic designers and retailers in Ireland and internationally, and was the main driver in the ‘Create’ project with Brown Thomas.

Designers who have been participating in Eddie Shanahan’s designer residencies have been invited to showcase their collections at the Derry exhibition to potential retail buyers, while special guest designers include Mariad Whisker and Mary Callan.

There will be Creative Workshops on the same day in St Columbs Hall from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

During these, Eddie Shanahan will demonstrate the power of retail branding, consumer behaviour, rules for operating in a crowded marketplace, cost effective retail promotional strategies, case studies and there will also be a question and answer session.

There will be Junk Kouture fashion shows next Friday in the Richmond Centre and Foyleside, while a number of local retailers will be offering in-store promotions and discounts during the festival.

The new Yellowmoon store on Shipquay Street will be launched during the festival, and offering 20% off all purchases, with an Instore Moonbar, popup makeup, nails and hair by Addiction. and Bucks Fizz for ladies as well as in-store DJs.
