More than a million and a half people packed into St Peter’s Square in Rome at the beginning of May for the beatification of Pope John Paul II.
And among them were a large group of Derry people who were some of the first 150,000 in the queue for the basilica area.
Crowds continue to pack the area and the streets around stracthing right across the River Tiber.
Sean Mulrine and his wife Ann were some of the people who witnessed the event.
They were also part of a select group allowed to visit the fireplace where St Pio would often sit and where the Holy Souls would appear.
The group also attended a grand reception for all the Irish pilgrims at the Irish College in Rome.
May Green travelled with the Derry pilgrimage after coming from the United States.
The last pilgrimage run by Sean Mulrine this year will be on October 4 to Sorrento and San Giovanni. You can contact him on 71265926
