Police in Derry are to start wearing body video cameras in a pioneering new project.
The pilot scheme is expected to be rolled out from next Monday, June 16th.
PSNI officers in G District- which takes in the Foyle, Strabane, Limavady and Magherafelt districts- will be issued with trhe equipment.
A PSNI spokesman said: “Police in G District are to pilot a scheme to equip officers with body worn-video cameras.
“The cameras can be used to record evidence and interactions between police officers and members of the public.”
Some PSNI officers last month donned small CCTV cameras, attached to their uniforms, during the Giro d’Italia recently, also as part of the pilot project.
