Derry woman dies in Donegal crash

The woman who died in a Co Donegal car crash which also left two children seriously injured has been named as Siobhan Hutcheon.

Originally from Derry, Mrs Hutcheon (38) lived with her husband and children in Muff. Her husband is also believed to be from Derry.

Gardaí in Letterkenny are appealing for witnesses following the fatal traffic collision which occurred near Newtoncunningham on the main Letterkenny road.

A statement said last night: “At approximately 3.30pm a female aged in her 30s was fatally injured when the car she was driving collided with a bus on the N13 between Letterkenny and Derry near Newtowncunningham. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was removed to Letterkenny General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Three children travelling in the car at the time were taken by ambulance to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry. The driver of the bus was uninjured.

The road was closed to traffic and diversions put in place for a time while Garda forensic collision investigators examined the scene.
