Diana Vickers to guest DJ

X-Factor starlet, Diana Vickers is to guest DJ in Limavady this weekend at Sweet nightclub.

The 20 year-old, who reached the semi-final of the hit television talent show in 2008, will be appearing at the popular club in the town on Saturday.

The Catherine Street nightspot, owned by proprietors Willis McLaughlin and Ryan McLaughlin, is expected to close its doors early, such is the huge demand to see Vickers.

“We’re packed every Saturday night, but I think this Saturday we’ll have to close our doors earlier. It’s been unreal,” said Willis McLaughlin of the interest in the guest appearance.

“We can’t believe someone of her status is coming to a sleepy wee town like Limavady.”

Mr. McLaughlin said having Diana Vickers, who will stay one night in the Roe Valley, as DJ will undoubtedly raise the club’s profile.

“It’s not just as simple as lifting the phone and booking acts,” he said, crediting promotions manager Pete Devine for booking Vickers. “They check out your profile and what kind of club you are.”

Diana Vickers follows, as DJ, in the footsteps of others guests including DJ Fergie, Dave Pearce from Radio 1 and Cash Money.

Mr. McLaughlin said he wouldn’t be taking advantage of Diana Vickers’ profile by charging exorbitant entry prices.

“We’re in a recession and things are tight for everyone. As we say, we’ll be keeping it sweet,” he said.

Diana Vickers reportedly looks set to have been given her big break with the opportunity to work with Latin superstar Enrique. It has been reported the blonde beauty revealed the ‘exciting news’ in an audio statement released via Twitter.

“I’ve co-written the new Enrique Iglesias single featuring J. Lo, a.k.a Jennifer Lopez. I’m really excited about that,” she said.

She has also branched into fashion forming a partnership with ‘Very.co.uk’ designing her own collection.

Former X Factor star, Eoghan Quigg from Dungiven, enjoyed a close freiendship with Diana Vickers in the 2008 competition. The Millennium Forum Prince Charming star told the ‘Journal’ he sometimes goes to Sweet, which he described as a good spot and said if he was going to the nightclub on Saturday he would definitely say hello to her. “I only found out about it the other day,” he said. “I don’t know if I am going, because I have football on Saturday but, if I do, I’ll definitely say ‘hello’.”
