The HSE said yesterday they were still in discussions with General Practitioners and Caredoc regarding the future organisation of the out of hours service “to ensure an ongoing, quality service is delivered.”
Fears have been expressed over the future of the service due to an impasse between CareDoc and the HSE with March 1st last previously given as the date the service could cease if an agreement was not reached.
Yesterday afternoon, in response to a query from the Journal, a spokesperson for the HSE said they wanted to reassure patients and their families that the NowDoc service was operating “as normal.”
In November 2013 the North West GPs entered into a commercial agreement with Caredoc Ltd, to manage the GP out of hours services in Donegal, South Leitrim and North Roscommon on their behalf.
The HSE repeated the same statement they had issued previously, telling how: “The HSE and Caredoc Ltd have been in discussions regarding the organisation and management of the service that is provided to clients, however, agreement has not been possible on a number of core issues these include funding and autonomy.”
