With the credit crunch taking its toll on parents across the North West, SureStart Edenballymore is giving mums and dads an alternative to forking out on brand new baby and childrens’ products. A ‘Nearly New’ sale which which will take place on Friday coming will provide local families with the opportunity to buy everyday necessities, such as baby, toddlers and children’s (ages 0-11 years) clothes, equipment, toys, games, puzzles, books and maternity wear all for a fraction of the original cost.
Deirdre McDaid, Manager of SureStart Edenballymore said: “After talking with many parents and families SureStart wanted to do something to really promote the ethos of recycling. What you may no longer need can be of use to someone else. It’s also a great money saver for parents wanting to buy clothes and a way of making some extra cash for parents who no longer need the clothes, toys and equipment.
“The cost of kitting out a child for the first years of their lives can run into thousands of pounds. The Nearly New Sale is the perfect solution – top-quality children’s clothes and toys at bargain prices. The sale offers a more economical alternative to buying brand new. So whether it’s cots, prams, toys or clothes come along to Community Schools Sports Hall on Central Drive, Creggan on Friday 8th from 12pm-4pm the and shop till you drop.
“Stock for the sale comes from parents wanting to recycle items they no longer need. They have an opportunity to pass on good quality clothes, toys and equipment while making themselves some cash. Sellers choose the price they wish to sell their items for, and receive 80% of what they make back.” Staff and volunteers from SureStart Edenballymore will sell the goods on behalf of sellers and will return any unsold items after the sale. All sellers need to do is register with SureStart Edenballymore, pick up a seller pack full of useful information, label their goods and drop them off on the day before the sale. And of course, buyers have the chance of picking up a bargain. Everyone is welcome to come along as a buyer or a seller, with just one condition - that the goods must be ‘nearly new.’
