SIGNAL a site-specific public art project devised and directed by North-55 to mark the history of Inistrahull Island will be launched today in Glengad Community Centre at 2pm. There will also be a screening of the film-“Signal:3’ which reflects the lighthouse’s signature beam of three white flashes every 15 seconds. Sean Beattie, Local historian and author of The Book of Inistrahull will launch the project. Refreshments will be served between 2.30pm and 4.30pm with the launch of Lanterns later in the evening

Malin Community Employment Project scheme for 2012/2013 will commence on 29th October. There are vacancies for the following posts: 1 playgroup assistant (Malin town),1 administrator (Malin town) and 5 general workers. These positions will afford the participants the opportunity to gain valuable experience in different fields, also through involvement in this project, participants can access a wide range of training opportunities. There were fantastic scenes in Malin on Thursday evening with Declan Walsh carrying the Sam Maguire cup over the bridge in Malin to a huge crowd on the green, flanked by a guard of honour of Malin underage teams. Thanks to everyone who helped organize the event with a special thanks to all the local entertainment on the stage who were hugely influential in making the night such a success. Thanks to everyone who attended the surprise party for Irelands No 1 GAA fan Patrick Houton in the GAA centre on Saturday night, a great night had by all with special thanks to Charlie Doherty of ICRFM for the music and Anne Lafferty for all her culinary skills in the kitchen.
Scór na nÓg Inishowen will take place in Muff next Friday, 12th October. The categories are Ceili dancing, Solo singing, Ballad, Instrumental group, Recitation, Drama, Set Dancing and Quiz. Shaun McLaughlin(O) is representing Malin GAA Club in The Biggest Loser, an Inishowen charity fundraiser with all seven Inishowen clubs represented with each of the participants raising money for various local charities, well done to all of them for attempting to raise much needed funds. Shaun is raising money for the Donegal Hospice over the next 10 weeks with the final weigh in for all seven participants taking place in the Malin GAA Centre on Sunday 28th October at 9-00pm. Between now and then there will be sponsorship sheets available throughout the parish, please support Shaun in this very worthy cause. Dermot O Brien and Culdaff FC are very kindly running a quiz in McGuinness’ Bar, Culdaff on Friday 5th October to help raise funds for Shaun’s cause and we would ask as many people as possible from Malin GAA Club to attend.
