Well known local entertainer Dougie Breslin will launch his latest album ‘Man Behind the Scene’ upstairs in Badgers Bar this coming Monday, December 19.
The launch event, from 8pm until late, will see Dougie performing a few tracks live and will feature a few guest appearances. Dougie told the ‘Journal’: “The CD has nine new songs penned by myself, all local themes, as I’m trying to promote local original music and musicians.”
Among the tunes on the new collection are ‘The Chiefs of Inishowen’, for Doherty’s everywhere. ‘1955’ recalls the housing crisis in Derry and Dougie’s own family’s experience of having to squat into an old fever hospital at Southway called Foyle Hill House with a few other families - and where three of his family were born. ‘Dusty and Dolly’ is a tribute to Dougie’s mother and father and is a duet with Ciara Mc Cafferty. “My parents loved music and dancing, and I thank them for instilling that love in me,” Dougie adds.
Dougie plays live in Tracey’s Bar every Wednesday night from 10:30pm until 1am, and at Peader’s Bar every Sunday night from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.
Join Dougie for the launch of his latest collection this Monday night, December 19, upstairs at Badgers Bar. Everyone welcome!
