Drainage repair work welcomed

Repair works are to be carried out to repair drainage in the Asylum Road and Queen Street areas of Derry.

Welcoming the development, Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper said:

“There has been a large amount of flooding taking place at the corner of Asylum Road and Queen Street during periods of rain.

“I have been in contact with Transport NI to see if we could get this resolved as this is a very busy junction.

“They have told me pipe has been broken by one of the utilities, and they are investigating the source, and that they are trying to co-ordinate this with the aim to get it repaired as soon as possible.”

In a separate development, recommendations tabled in a new Review of Winter Flooding was due to tabled at yesterday’s meeting of Derry City & Strabane District Council’s Assurance, Audit and Risk Committee.
