Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hOisín has called on the Finance Minister Simon Hamilton to clarify where the A6 project and the Dungiven bypass stands. Mr. Ó hOisín said it is unacceptable the Finance Minister said for the A6 project to commence “we would need to see the abandonment of the A5”.
“The Finance Minister needs to clarify where the A6 project now stands as people along the route have waited well over 40 years for improvements and deserve the commitment to seeing this project through to fruition in the near future,” said Mr. Ó hOisín. “The A6 route between the two biggest cities in the North needs to be upgraded as does the road between Derry and Dublin.”
Reacting to the Minister’s announcement on funding for road projects yesterday, Mr. Ó hOisín said “the most congested - the A6 - had been leap-frogged by smaller and less significant projects”.
