Environment Minister Mark H Durkan received the keys for the DOE’s new regional headquarters at Ebrington in Derry on Wednesday.

‘Building 71’ is being refurbished in advance of DOE officials moving in before the end of September.

Minister Durkan said: “On taking up office, I pledged to move jobs to the North West. I am now doing that with 25 staff moving to form a regional DOE HQ in Building 71 in Derry.

“Getting the keys to the building secures this. It is a real boost for Derry.”

Ilex’s Chief Executive, Mel Higgins - who handed the keys over to Mr. Durkan - said: “Ilex welcomes the confirmation of DOE jobs at Ebrington.

“This demonstrates great confidence in our development plans and recognises the attractiveness of Ebrington in helping to bring jobs to the city”.
