One teenager and her family were braving the elements in a tent erected outside the store, while others spent the night in their cars.

Still others, wrapped up in hats, scarves and gloves, brought deck chairs to save their feet for the long wait ahead, with blankets to help fend off the December off.

Dozens more people are expected to join the queue in Derry for the sought after tickets through until tomorrow morning.

One Direction will play at the Odyssey on Tuesday December 20th and Wednesday 21st of October 2015.

Terri Quigley turned up at 6.30am on Friday and was among the first in the queue hoping to get tickets for her daughter Síofra (3).

She was joined in the queue shortly afterwards by Natalie Quinn, was also hoping to make her six-year-old daughter Maisy’s Christmas wish come true by picking up some tickets.

The Ardmore ladies were joined in the queue by teenagers and adults from Galliagh and other estates across the town.

Speaking to the Journal, Terri (22) said: “This is Santa come early for them hopefully tomorrow morning. All my wee girl is saying is ‘Niall, Niall, going to see Niall’- he is her boyfriend. She is only three but she’ll be four at the concert.”

Natalie (28), who admitted to being a bit of a fan herself, added: “Our girls love One Direction. We went last year to Dublin it was brilliant. The concert was amazing we are just hoping now the Odyssey is as good, if we get tickets. Fingers crossed.

“That’s all I’ve been hearing this past week, we’re getting One Direction tickets, will you get me them?”
