Deadline for Uni applications

Time is running out if you are considering applying for a university place in 2012.

The Careers Service Northern Ireland is reminding prospective university students that January 15, 2012 is the main application deadline for UK university courses commencing in 2012. The deadline for art and design courses is March 24, 2012.

Mary Hegarty, Careers Manager for Derry in the Department for Employment and Learning’s Careers Service Northern Ireland, offers the following advice:

“Making decisions, even at the best of times, can be daunting and even more so when this can influence the course that your later life may take. The Careers Service can help you with your higher education choices and offers free, impartial careers information, advice and guidance. Find your local Careers Adviser by logging onto www.nidirect.gov.uk/careers. You can also contact the Careers Service by phone on 0300 200 7820.

“Deciding to go to university or college and choosing the course and location that is right for you can be a life-changing decision. Do as much research as possible so that you choose the right course for the right reasons. Check that you meet the academic entry requirements and consider if you are likely to meet the grades or tariff points required.”
