Inishowen busy for Seachtain na Gaeilge

An Irish conversation class will be held in Buncrana Community Library tomorrow night at 7pm as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. All levels are welcome, and it will be fun and informal. For more information contact the library on 074 9361941.

Inishowen-based singer and author Seoirse Ó Dochartaigh will host a Genealogy Workshop, Ceardlann ar Ghinealas, in the library on Friday at 11am for an hour for those over 12 years.

Seoirse is also hosting the workshop in Carndonagh library (tel 07493 73701) next Tuesday at 11am and at Moville Library (tel 07493 85110) next Wednesday at 11am.

Next week the library hosts Bingo as Gaeilge on Tuesday at 11am for local primary schools, with admission free. Later that day, at 4pm, there’s ‘Tráth na gCeist’ for fifth and sixth class pupils. On Wednesday 14th there’s a craft evening at 6pm, again admission free.

One of the highlights of Seachtain na Gaeilge in Inishowen will be the Ceolchoirm Naíscoil Bhun Cranncha (variety concert) in Buncrana Library on Thursday 15th March at 11.00am. Admission free.

Then at 2pm that day there’s Tráth na gCeist ‘Cashel na Cor’ (Irish Quiz).

There are Irish classes for beginner adults facilitated by Fionnuala McGee at St Johnston and Carrigans Family Resource Centre next Tuesday 13th March and 6.30pm and on Tuesday 20th March at 6.30pm. You need to book for that, with a maximum of 12 places. Call 074 9148551.

There’s bingo as Gaeilge today with pupils from St. Patrick’s Boys’ School in the library in Carndonagh at 11am. For information call (074 9373701).

The library will also host ‘Basic Guide to Irish language’ with Fiona McCool for an hour from 7pm on Thursday. You need to book for that and there’s a limit of 20 people.

Next week the library hosts Tráthnóna Ceardaíochta Sheachtain na Gaeilge (Craft evening) on Thursday 15th March at 4.00pm, with admission free.

This will be followed by ‘Caint faoin Ghaeilge le Fiona McCool’ for an hour at 7pm. Booking is needed for that.

On Friday 16th March at 11am there’s a Trath na gCeist for fifth and sixth class pupils in Moville Community Library, tel 074 9385110
