Foyle College has appointed its new principal.

Patrick Allen arrives from Coleraine Academical Institution to take over from Jack Magill who’s retiring as Foyle head after 18 years.

Mr. Allen is a graduate of Queen’s University, Belfast where he gained both a BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Economics & Management and his Post Graduate Certificate in Education.

He returned to “The Inst” in September 1991 as a teacher of Economics and History and has held a number of positions at the school including Head of Economics, Head of Careers, Senior Teacher and Pastoral Vice Principal.

Mr Allen remarked: “With almost 400 years of history and tradition, Foyle College represents both a type of school and an education system in which I believe fundamentally.

“It is a privilege and an honour to have been appointed as Principal of this fine establishment.”
