Education Minister John O’Dowd has wished all children and young people a safe and happy summer holiday.
Speaking at the end of the academic year, the Minister said: “The summer break is always keenly anticipated by children and young people everywhere and now the holiday period has arrived for 2014. For all pupils, from pre-school through to post-16, it has been a busy and productive year.
“After months of hard work, now is the time to enjoy the well deserved break. With schools now closed for summer, the days provide lots of opportunities for playing outdoors, taking part in sports like Gaelic games, soccer, running or swimming, attending summer clubs or holidaying at home or abroad. I want all local children to have a safe and happy summer holiday.
“The nidirect website has lots of useful advice for children and their parents, from taking care in the sun to being safe on the roads.
“I hope all our young people have an enjoyable summer break and those returning to school for the new academic year in September do so refreshed.”
