Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MLA has said that he will support any bid brought to the Executive for Magee expansion funding.

Speaking to the Derry Journal on Wednesday evening Mr. McGuinness welcomed the response given by Minister for Employment and Learning, Stephen Farry, to a question asked by Sinn Fein party colleague and fellow MLA, Maeve McLaughlin.

“I welcome the response from my Executive colleague and minister responsible for universities, Stephen Farry that he is presently scrutinising the business plan for expansion of Magee Campus and if it meets the expenditure, appraisal and evaluation criteria that he will bid for the funds in the next Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR).”

Mr. McGuinness added: “I have no doubt that the business plan put forward to the minister is robust and comprehensive and when the minister makes his decision he will have the support of the Sinn Féin Executive Ministers for any subsequent bid.”
