The East Derry count in the 2015 General Election is underway, with a result expected well after 3am.

The East Derry count in the 2015 General Election is underway, with a result expected well after 3am. The seven candidates are Caoimhe Archibald (Sinn Fein), Yvonne Boyle (Alliance), Gregory Campbell (DUP), William McCandless (UUP), Gerry Mullan (SDLP), Neil Paine (Cannabis is Safer than Alcohol) and Elizabeth St Clair-Legge (Conservatives).

In the 2010 Parliamentary election there were 63,220 eligible voters. Votes polled numbered 35,086. Valid votes numbered 34,950. Invalid Votes were 136 and the turnout was 55.5 per cent.

In 2010, Gregory Campbell polled 12,097 votes to take the seat, while Sinn Fein’s Cathal O’hOisin polled 6,742 votes. The SDLP’s Thomas Conway had 5,399 votes.
