Mourners at the funeral of Carndonagh man Enda McLaughlin have heard how his death is the latest in a line of tragedies for his family.

The 27-year-old was buried this morning following Requiem Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Carndonagh.

Hundreds of mourners packed into the Church to hear Carndonagh Parish Priest Con McLaughlin sympathise with Mr McLaughlin’s family, including his father, Patrick, brothers and sister.

He told how Enda’s death followed that of his mother and the tragic drowing of his brother-in-law while on holiday.

There were also prayers for the community of Aachen in Germany, where Mr McLaughlin died three weeks ago.

Police are continuing to investigate allegations Mr McLaughlin stabbed three people in the area, before he was knocked down and killed by a car as he fled.

Fr. McLaughlin asked mourners to remember those who were “injured or traumatised” by the events in Aachen.
