Entries flooding in for all-new Hospice Female Walk/Run

The all new Foyle Hospice Female Walk/Run appears to be another big hit with the ladies of the city as entries are already flooding in to the Hospice organisers.

This year the walk will take place on Sunday, June 3, at 1.30pm and will start from Templemore Sports Complex with the finish line at Ebrington Square via the Peace Bridge.

This is the 13th annual Female Walk which has grown in popularity year by year. Last year entries to the sponsored walk were just shy of 5,000 ladies so this year the big push is on to increase those numbers even more!

The new route which will commence at Templemore Sports Complex, travel along the Buncranna Road progressing onto Riverside Walk at Fort George and then crossing the Peace Bridge to finish at Ebrington Square will hopefully be the incentive to all the ladies who have previously taken part to come out once again and for all those who haven’t yet joined the thousands of others supporting the Hospice to make this year their first!

Speaking about the event, Noel McMonagle, Community Fundraising Manger said: “It is fantastic to see the entry forms already coming back in for the Female Walk/Run.

The new route has added excitement for this year’s walk with everyone looking forward to crossing the Peace Bridge and finishing up in Ebrington Square.

“The Female Walk/Run is extremely well supported throughout the whole city and this year I really hope we can break the 5,000 participant mark. I would also like to stress the importance of everybody’s sponsorship – we need our local community to know that every £1, £2, £5 or £20 makes such a huge difference. We understand things are difficult for so many but if the ladies taking part can do their best to gather up whatever they can it will truly make a difference to those terminally ill with cancer and life-limiting illness through our various Hospice Care services.

“All our services are free of charge to those that avail of them throughout the North West region so this is why we depend so highly on community support. Once again I would like to extend thanks to our key sponsors; Seagate, Q102.9 and the Derry Journal for their much valued support.”

The Female Walk will take place on Sunday, June 3, at 1:30pm. It is approximately 3 miles. Entry is £7.

Entry and sponsorship forms are available from Foyle Hospice Fundraising Centre, 61 Culmore Road, telephone: 71. 359888 or from the Foyle Hospice Shop, Waterloo Place (no packs will be supplied through shop).
