A Derry-born author and entrepreneur has returned home from Australia for the Irish and UK launch of her book ‘Clean Green’ in the city centre this week.

Caroline Leslie (nee McDaid), founder & chief executive of Home Maid Green Cleaning, has been living in Australia for almost 20 years but has returned home to officially launch her book for the Ireland and British markets at the Maldron Hotel on Friday evening.

Originally published in Australia, ‘Clean Green – It Won’t Cost the Earth!’ has now been launched as a paperback in Ireland, the UK and in America.

It will be officially launched with a Champagne Celebration Party hosted by Caroline at The Maldron. Compere for the evening will be Drive 105’s Silver Fox DJ, Kevin Boyle, with a guest appearance by Felix Healy.

The book was originally part of a marketing strategy for Caroline’s successful green-cleaning business ‘Home Maid’, which she has been operating in Australia for over five years.

Caroline says the book has now surpassed all expectations by selling out the first print run in a matter of weeks.

Caroline is originally from Shantallow and was a former Derry Factory Queen representing Desmond’s in Drumahoe, where she worked in the accounts office.

She emigrated from Derry in 1996 and has made her new home in Victoria, Australia.

She describes herself as an “environmental clean-freak”, who is passionate about promoting healthier, home-made cleaning alternatives and increasing awareness of the dangers of using chemical cleaning products, “which can have adverse effects on our health, the environment and our pockets”.

The driving force behind this book has been the knowledge and experience Caroline gained while nursing her husband Pete back to health after a life-threatening illness.

The mother-of-three’s commitment to environmental sustainability has ensured her multiple award-winning business a roaring success.

“Every single decision I make as a company owner, is made with environmental impact in mind. If there’s a greener alternative, then we go with that,” said Caroline.

“The book is a great introduction for people who want to take the first steps to avoiding and eliminating toxic chemicals from their homes and work places.”

Published by Global Publishing, Clean Green is now available to order at amazon.com and selected bookstores.

Tickets are now selling for the event on Friday evening, and the price includes a signed copy of the book. To book go to: www.eventbrite.com.au/myevent?eid=18173632825.
