The proposed A5 Western Transport Corridor would reduce the number of collisions, according to Roads Minister Danny Kennedy.

The Minister for Regional Development was asked to outline his Department’s evaluation of the road safety benefits of the planned A5 Western Transport Corridor.

He responded: “As an integral part of an overall Traffic and Economics assessment carried out on the proposed A5 Western Transport Corridor project, the issue of road safety has been examined and evaluated in detail.

“I can confirm it is estimated that implementation of the entire project would reduce the number of collisions by approximately 1,000 over a 60-year scheme assessment period.”
