Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed the announcement from NI Water that work will begin on the upgrade to the sewage pumping station at Nixon’s Corner in March 2014.
Colr. Cooper says he hopes the move will solve the ongoing sewage problems for residents in the Burnside Manor and Killea Manor estates. “I have been lobbying NI Water on this issue for over two years with the key aim of resolving the sewage issues at Killea which have caused misery for local residents. Earlier this year NI Water agreed to clear out the pumping station in Killea Manor which certainly eased the problems but the residents were always wary that the problems would resurface. This new scheme should see a permanent resolution of the issues in Killea,” he said.
