Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has called for anyone wanting to attend the upcoming international anti-fracking conference in Fermanagh to register for the event.
Ms Anderson said the conference was a great opportunity for people to make their opinion over fracking heard.
“There is widespread feeling right across Ireland that communities do not want fracking.
“Fracking has already been banned in several countries. Sinn Féin has made it consistently clear that fracking should not be allowed anywhere in Ireland, north or south.
“My party colleague Michelle Gildernew MP and I will be hosting an major international conference on fracking in Fermanagh on February 20 in the Lough Erne Resort to highlight this important issue,” said Ms. Anderson.
Speakers at the conference will include some from Germany who have experience of mounting a highly effective campaign against fracking.
“The conference will hear from a panel of international speakers including speakers from Germany who have successfully campaigned against fracking. We will also have a live video link with the United States to hear about the American experience of fracking.
“I am encouraging anyone interested in attending the conference to register now to ensure their place,” added Ms. Anderson.
Register for the conference by February 6 by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 028 71329321.
