Club MTV will return to Derry later this year, the ‘Journal’ can exclusively reveal.
A headline act is expected to be confirmed within the next two weeks and tickets will go on sale soon after.
The ‘Journal’ understands that the organisers are considering hosting the event over two days.
“MTV has developed a great relationship with Derry and they are looking forward to coming back again in 2016,” said a spokesperson for organisers, Legacy Promotions Iona Ltd.
“We are currently in talks with several big names and we are sure that tickets will go like hot cakes when they go on release.
“If everything goes according to plan the Club MTV event will be MTV’s biggest DJ event this year - we are really excited.”
The spokesperson said they would not comment on rumours about well known DJs such as Martin Garrix, Steve Angello, Steve Aoki and Nicky Romero being linked with the Derry MTV concert.
“We can’t go into details at the minute but one thing is for sure, the act that will be headlining this concert will draw music fans from all over Ireland,” said the spokesperson.
MTV staged its first concert in Derry in 2014 when they hosted the MTV Crashes Derry Event.
The American based music channel returned to the city last year to stage a Club MTV concert.
Thousands of concert goers packed into Ebrington Square in August to be entertained by Australian DJ duo, NERVO, Galantis, David Zowie and Philip George.
