The Revitalisation scheme, which is being funded by the Department for the Communities and was developed alongside Derry City and Strabane District Council and the City Centre Initiative, aims to provide some uniformity to shop front appearances and includes the installation of new frontages, painting, replacement of rainwater goods, and repairing or replacement of windows, doors and external plasterwork.

Announcing the initiative, Communities Minister Paul Givan said: “This funding will help to improve the appearance of the shop fronts in these two key commercial streets and complements my Department’s earlier investments to enhance the public realm in the area. The improvements will attract more shoppers to the streets, bringing a boost to trade and increasing the vibrancy of the area.
