Dame Glennie, who lost her hearing when she was 12, is the star attraction in a line-up of performers who have a hearing or sight impairment. The event, titled Sensonic, is the grand finale of a three year project, the Sensory Engagement Programme (SEP) which worked with blind, partially sighted, deaf and hard of hearing people across the border areas. Project Manager Alice Lewis said: “Throughout the project we have used music, drama and dance as powerful tools to let participants express themselves and build their confidence. We wanted to celebrate what our participants have achieved and capture their spirit of creativity, particularly in this the first ever UK City of Culture year. We are thrilled that Dame Evelyn Glennie will be performing alongside local performers and musicians in this fast moving and diverse piece.” Free tickets from: 71 264455.
