The Foyle Hospice is to send a team to take part in next year’s London Marathon.
The London Marathon is described as one of life’s great challenges and there are so many reasons to take part.
Perhaps, you’re looking for the personal challenge of a lifetime – to run 26 miles - or, maybe, you are running in memory of a loved one who has been affected by cancer or some other life limiting illness.
In 2015, Foyle Hospice will be sending a team to the London Marathon and it has secured a limited number of guaranteed places.
Commenting on the event, Noel McMonagle, community fundraiser, said: “Last year, our team raised more than £40,000 for the work of the Hospice, allowing our dedicated staff to provide ongoing palliative care services for our patients.
“Overall running costs for the Hospice in 2014 were £2.8 million and, with only 19% funding from government, we depend greatly on the support of our community through events like the Virgin London Marathon to raise the rest.
“The Virgin London Marathon is said to be the best marathon of them all. With the support of the crowds and a fantastic atmosphere, this marathon is not one to miss.”
As a fundraising event, there is no marathon in the world that comes close to the famous London Marathon.
The course takes you through the streets of the famous city and past all the main attractions: Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Place and Canary Wharf.
