'˜Be a Hospice hero' - Roma's challenge to Derry women

In a video message filmed from her Malibu home in California Roma, wearing this year’s 2016 pink T-shirt said she was encouraging the “wonderful women” of Derry to back the charity venture.

She said: “Greetings from sunny Malibu, California. On Sunday June 12, the Foyle Hospice annual female 5k takes to the streets of my home city of Derry, Northern Ireland.

“And you can run or you can walk, it is up to you. Maybe want to remember a loved one or get a group together for a healthy day out.

“So I am asking all of you wonderful women back home to register now online at foylehospice.com or telephone 71-359888.

“And please raise as much sponsorship as you can for families and friends and work colleagues.

“Please support your local hospice on June 12th, you too can be a hospice hero helping to ensure provision of essential palliative care and important bereavement support services to the many patients with life limiting illnesses and their families across the North West.

Without doubt one of the highlights of the Foyle Hospice Fundraising Calendar is the annual Female Walk/Run.

“Alternatively people can contact our Fundraising Office on (028)71-359888 and request a form. If you have participated in the event over the past few weeks you will automatically receive your entry in the post over the next couple of weeks’

The Hospice Female Walk/Run raises a considerable amount of money every year which in turn will help many patients with a life limiting illness and provide support for their families and loved ones right across the North West.

Noel continued: “Each year it costs approximately £2.9 m. for the hospice to provide specialist palliative care for patients and their families and we depend greatly on the support of our community participating in events like our annual Female Walk/Run to help us reach our fundraising targets each yea.

“I would appeal to as many of our females in our community to come along and join in this fun event on Sunday 12th June.”
