Without doubt one of the highlights of the Foyle Hospice Fundraising Calendar is the Annual Female Walk/Run.

Noel McMonagle, Community Fundraising Manager at Foyle Hospice said: “We have decided to open the registration process for our Female Walk event early this year so as to try and encourage as many people as possible to sign up as soon as possible.

“In fact our online entries are now open by logging on to our website at www.foylehospice.com. Alternatively people can contact our Fundraising Office on (028)71359888 and request a form.

“If you have participated in the event over the past few weeks you will automatically receive your entry in the post over the next couple of weeks.”

This week representatives from some of the city’s running clubs gathered at the Peace Bridge to add their support to the event.

But you don’t have to be a sprinter to take part. All you need is your registration a good pair of walking shoes.

The Hospice Female Walk/Run raises a considerable amount of money every year which in turn will help many patients with a life limiting illness and provide support for their families and loved ones right across the North West.

Noel continued:”Each year it costs approximately £2.9M for the Hospice to provide specialist palliative care for patients and their families and we depend greatly on the support of our community participating in events like our annual Female Walk/Run to help us reach our fundraising targets each year so I would appeal to as many of our females to join in on June 12.
