“Rainbow is here to help” says Alexsia, a woman with a transgender history

Alexsia Henderson, a woman with a transgender history, has lived in Derry for over three years.

Her life here, she says, is the best it has ever been. For years, living in Portadown, she says she endured a campaign of verbal and physical violence at the hands of those who refused to accept who she was.

She now works at Derry’s Rainbow Project, supporting and campaigning on behalf of other trans gender people as well as those who are lesbian, gay, or bisexual. In this short video she encourages those who are struggling with their sexuality and feel isolated or alone to come forward and use the centre.

Read Alexsia’s full story in tomorrow’s Derry Journal in an extensive feature about the Rainbow Project’s Derry centre.
