Grow your own

outdoor kitchen

House in the Wells 2pm - 3pm

Cooking in the great outdoors, who says it’s just barbecues? Come along and take part in our food demonstration and have a taste. Food cooked on the day will come from our community garden where you can see how to ‘Grow Ur Own’ and learn how to plant herbs. Each attendee will be given a herb pot to take home. Play Day

Bishop’s Field, Creggan 11am-1pm

On this national day for play we are calling on all parents, children and young people to help celebrate this wonderful day of play. In partnership with Youth First, Surestart celebrates children’s right to play and highlights the importance of play in children’s lives.

Bring your own jars and glass containers and transform them into beautiful outdoor lanterns. Suitable for all ages 14 plus. Cost £3.

Charity Boxing

St Columb’s Hall 8pm

Featuring local ‘celebrities.’ All monies raised will go to Gasyard Féile and Oakleaf Boxing Club.

Bustling with wit, energy and invention, Bouncers features four young actors playing over twenty different characters as we see them invited out for a night on the town in this outrageous and hilarious parody od the club abd pub scene. Adm £5

Annual Féile lecture

An Chultúrlann, Great James Street 7.30pm

Acclaimed writer/political commentator, Fintan O’Toole, will deliver this year’s Annual Féile lecture. In his latest publication, ‘Enough is Enough; How to build a new republic, O’Toole has written a different kind of polemic, not just a prescription for recovery, but a kind of manifesto for a new republic based on the founding ideals of decency, fairness and the pursuit of the common good.

Everyone is welcome to this day out provided by the members of Destined. Destined have an overall aim of integrating people with learning disabilities into the community.

Film presentation and talk - The Pipe by Risteard O’Dohmnaill - What do people do when the law prevents them from protecting themselves and their land? Award winning documentary film on the small Irish vilage that stood up to the big oil multinational! The director will be in attendance.

The Crochet Club meet twice weekly at the Arts Factory and over the last 5 months have produced an amazing array of work. Today is the last day of the Club before a short break before restarting in September. Cost £3

Intergenerational Football match

Brandywell 1pm

The Brandywell plays host to a community football mini tournament. All ages and sexes are invited to enter a team for what we hop will be a great tournament od skill, goals, but most of all, craic. In this panel discussion thge families of the prisoners describe conditions and outline the demand of the prisoners for political status.
