The Gasyard Wall Féile will soon be launching its programme of events which will take place from July 28 until August 15.

This year’s festival will begin with the return of the popular Roaring Meg Motorcycle & Scooter show on Saturday July 28th on the City Walls, and added to the Roaring Meg event will be the Roaring Meg Busking Festival to be held on the same day with buskers playing throughout the city centre.

Also returning for another year will be Teenage Kicks Music Festival, an outdoor under 18s music event in Guildhall Square on Sunday August 5th.

Details of bands and acts set to perform at the concert will released in the coming weeks.

On the weekend of August 11 and 12 there will be a number of community events held throughout the Bogside and Brandywell areas.

These will include a family day on Saturday August 11 at Free Derry Corner, which will see Féile and residents hosting a fun day of activities including an International Food Fair, music and the Big Bog BBQ.

On Sunday, August 12 children and families will be welcomed to join in the Carnival and Fun Day at the Gasyard Centre. The rest of the events will be announced when the brochure is launched on July 20.

Speaking to the ‘Journal’ about the upcoming festival, co-ordinator Ami McBride said: “We have a great programme lined up. We are inviting the entire community to attend our events which will be held in various locations throughout the city.”

It is the first year that Ami has co-ordinated the Feile and she said she is looking forward to the challenge.

“I am looking forward to my first year at the helm and there is amazing participation and collaboration from all community groups within the area.

“We welcome volunteers to take part or help with the organising of any of the events.”
