Community Associations in the Roe Valley can apply for a grant of up to £250 for Christmas activities in their area.

The festive funding initiative from Causeway Coast & Glens Council is to assist Community Associations “who want to deliver a clearly defined outdoor event to mark the lighting of a Christmas tree or other festive lighting”.

Council says one group from each settlement is invited to apply for a grant of up to £250.

“Due to a limited funding pot only one community group per settlement will be successful. Projects are expected to take place between 21st November 2016 and 17th December 2016,” a Council spokesperson explained.

“Activities must be cross community and open to all residents. Applications for a range of costs relating to festive entertainment such as an artist’s fee can be supported, but no alcohol costs can be included. Priority will be given to projects that promote wide community involvement.”

Limavady and Dungiven are excluded from grant funding because an official festive switch-on taking place: .
