People around the world have signed up to a petition calling for urgent repair works at a popular Inishowen beach.
Hundreds of people have already signed the on-line petition urging Donegal Co. Council to carry out repairs at the entrance to Lagg Beach - perhaps better known as Five Fingers Strand.
The beach is located at Trawbrega Bay on the main coastal road between Malin Town and Malin Head.
According to Imelda Gallagher, who set up the petition, the entrance to the strand has been eroded by the sea and storms and is in urgent need of repair.
She says that the beach entrance is “inaccessible and dangerous to the general public.”
She adds: “It is an area of outstanding natural beauty, being home to some of the highest sand dunes in Europe. It has been declared a wild life sanctuary and is an area of regional ornithological importance.”
Imelda is urging the public to sign the petition so “that Donegal County Council can see that we, the public, are passionate enough to want our beautiful Lagg Beach back.”
The petition has already been signed by people living in countless countries all over the world including Ireland, Britain, Portugal, Germany, the United States, Latvia, Brazil, Yemen, South African, Spain, the Seychelles, Mexico, India, and Argentina.
