An event will be held in Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin this Friday to discuss the potential benefits of bringing the All-Ireland fleadh to Derry.
Local musicians and campaigners are trying to have the All-Ireland Fleadh held in Derry in 2013 to coincide with the City of Culture celebrations. If Derry’s bid is successful it will be the first time the event will be held north of the border. The campaign has already received support from the city’s Mayor, Councillor Colum Eastwood, First Minister Peter Robinson, and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness. Mr McGuinness will be the guest speaker at Friday’s event which begins at 1.30pm.
