There were just 17 more people than usual seeking Accident & Emergency treatment in Derry during the All-Ireland Fleadh, the Western Trust confirmed yesterday. That’s despite the massive influx of visitors for the week.
Figures from Sunday, August 11 until Sunday, August 18 showed approximately 1,341 attendances at Altnagelvin’s A&E Department, with around 500 of those attending over the main Fleadh weekend. This compared to figures of 1,324 for the same period last year - Sunday, August 12 until Sunday, August 19.
Mr James Steele, Consultant in Emergency Medicine for the Western Trust, said: “I would like to pay tribute to our staff who were on duty over this busy period and provided a high standard of care to our patients. I would also like to thank Trust staff involved in planning and preparing for this major event.”
