Sinn Féin councillor Paul Fleming has welcomed the start of work to improve street lighting in the Prehen area of the city. The former mayor of Derry was speaking after new lamp standards were erected on the Prehen Road this week. The new lampposts are taller than the previous ones and are designed to improve the quality of lighting in the area.
Colr. Fleming said; “I welcome the news that works on a scheme to improve the lighting along Prehen Road is underway.
“The current lighting scheme there needed to be upgraded.
The Sinn Féin colr. said people in the Prehen area had been calling for the street lighting to be upgraded for a number of years. “I had received several complaints from residents about the state of the lighting in the area. This upgrade will greatly improve general road safety and the safety of pedestrians.”
