The completion of work at a flooding hotspot in the Ballymagroarty/ Hazelbank area has been welcomed.

Sinn Féin Councillor Eric McGinley said the completion of the remedial work carried out at the Marianus Glen culvert at Ringfort Road was good news for local residents.

Colr. McGinley said: “This particular location has been the source of significant flooding through the years with residents in Beallachmor being particularly affected.

“The Rivers Agency has been on site for a considerable period of time and have now completed the necessary works.

“I have been informed that this location has been designated as Category A which means that the culvert will be cleaned on a weekly basis as well as in advance and subsequent to any heavy rainfall.”

He added: “I would take this opportunity to welcome the completion of the remedial works by the Rivers Agency which will go a considerable way towards preventing any future flooding in the area.”
