Four men have been arrested after a bomb was found in Derry last night.
Police say the “viable IED” was found during an operation investigating ongoing Dissident Republican activity in the city.
“At approximately 8.40 pm police stopped a car and subsequently arrested two males aged 47 and a male aged 40 after the discovery of what is believed to be a viable IED. A fourth male aged 41 was arrested nearby,” a PSNI spokeswoman says.
All four men are assisting police with their enquiries at Antrim Serious Crime Suite.
A number of homes in the Northland Avenue area were evacuated after the discovery of the bomb, while British Army bomb experts were also tasked to the scene.
