The recent visit of celebrity couple Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol and his Hollywood star fiancee Courteney Cox took time out of their visit to Derry to lend their support for local Samaritans.

The recent national launch of Samaritans “ Talk to Us “ campaign coincided with the 40th Anniversary of the local Derry branch and was supported by visiting celebrities, actress Courtney Cox and her fiance John Mc Daid from band Snow Patrol.

The couple said they were delighted to be involved with the campaign and congratulated all the volunteers both past and present, for providing this valuable service for the past 40 years to both the local community and further afield.

Lindsay, chairperson of the Derry branch, said: “ The aim of this year’s campaign was to simply let people know that we are here round the clock, providing a safe space for them to talk and be themselves, without fear of being judged.”

Samaritans provide confidential, emotional support.
