Funeral of Paul McCauley to take place on Thursday

The funeral of Derry man Paul McCauley will take place on Thursday.

Speaking to the Derry Journal - Paul’s father Jim said his son’s funeral Mass will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday in St Columb’s Chapel, Waterside.

He will then be buried in Ballyoan cemetery.

Paul McCauley was left severely brain damaged following a vicious sectarian assault almost nine years after he had enjoyed a barbecue with friends at Chapel Road in the city.

Since the attack which occurred when Paul was 29, he had remained in a vegetative state, unable to communicate and confined to bed for most of the time.
